As part of the NCCS-Impacts Programme of the National Centre for Climate Services, actionable climate services for the environment, economy and society will be developed from 2022 to 2025. The VPHI is involved in two modules of the project "Impacts of climate change on the health, well-being and performance of humans and animals and on food safety in Switzerland". The lead for this project on the NCCS side lies with the Federal Office of Public Health (FOPH) and the Federal Food Safety and Veterinary Office (FSVO).
Module 3 looks at the effects of climate change on the risk of mycotoxins in Switzerland. A first part examines the general development of the mycotoxin risk in Swiss food products under the predicted climate change scenarios. In a second part, a qualitative risk analysis of aflatoxin contamination of dairy products in Switzerland is carried out.
Module 4 focuses on the influence of climate change on vector-borne diseases. A scoping review and two surveys will provide an overview of the perspectives of vector-borne diseases in Switzerland. A probabilistic forecasting of the transmission potential of diseases transmitted by Aedes mosquitoes will identify the impact of different climate change scenarios.
