Assessment of aflatoxin-related health risk for milk consumers in rural and peri-urban areas of Burkina Faso
Staff involved: Filipe Maximiano Sousa
Duration: March 2019 – ongoing
While Burkina Faso has one of the lowest consumptions of milk per-capita in West Africa, the demand of milk is increasing, especially in urban areas, and milk consumption in the entire country is expected to increase in the years to come.
This project aims to assess the aflatoxin-related health risk for rural and peri-urban consumers of locally produced milk, with a focus on children under five years, pregnant women, and breastfeeding women. This project is being carried out in collaboration with the International Livestock Research Institute.
