One Health is not a new concept but it is now time to operationalise it at the level of field professionals.
Numerous initiatives are emerging at all scales in Switzerland and internationally. Among the strategies deployed to apply One Health, the Quadripartite has published its joint Plan of Action. One of the action tracks calls for training professionals in the animal, human and environmental sectors in One Health. What competencies do professionals concretely need to be able to deploy the One Health strategy in their activities and work in a more integrated and intersectoral manner to prevent, manage and resolve health issues at the human-animal-environment interface? We asked professionals in these sectors to complete a survey to describe the situations they had already encountered and the competencies they lacked to take concrete action using a "One Health" approach. This survey has now been completed and we are working on analysing the results.
