Research Interests

  • Development and application of infectious disease models to inform strategy preparedness programs, evaluate control strategies or plan disease elimination
  • Canine rabies surveillance, control and elimination in endemic countries
  • Investigation of free roaming domestic dog populations
  • Enhancement of preparedness for highly infectious animal diseases such as foot-and-mouth disease or classical swine fever

Research projects:

  • Community Based Surveillance in Switzerland and Chad , funded by the Food Safety and Veterinary Office and Wolfermann-Nägeli Foundation, in collaboration with the Swiss Tropical and Public Health Institute and the National Laboratory Chad
  • The impact of domestic dog ecology on the spread and control of infectious diseases, in collaboration with The University of Sydney, Swiss Tropical and Public Health Institute, National Laboratory Chad, International Livestock Research Institute Kenya, Ministry of Agriculture and Forests Bhutan, Local Government Indonesia
  • The use of Sobol Sensitivity Analysis on an epidemiological rabies model, in collaboration with The University of Sydney and the ETH Zurich
  • Prevalence study and modeling to inform control programs for footrot in Switzerland
  • Estimation of potential spread and impact of canine rabies in Australian Aboriginal communities by novel simulation model approach, Swiss National Science Foundation supported project, collaboration with The University of Sydney
  • Ensemble modeling and to support emergency disease management, supported by Research and Policy for Infectious Disease Dynamics (RAPIDD) Program, collaboration with Colorado State University, Pennsylvania State University, Linköpings Universitet, Massey University, Australian Department of Agriculture, United States Department of Agriculture, University of Melbourne, The University of Sydney, University of Nottingham
